Princeton Review names Carson-Newman among “Best in the Southeast”
Carson-Newman University 2019 graduate Leah Belcher, of Jefferson City, shares a laugh with then-fellow students inside the University’s Maples Café. In a recent listing, Carson-Newman ranked among the “Best in the Southeast,” based on academics and student feedback on the University’s on-campus experience.
(August 13, 2019) JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — Carson-Newman University is among a select number of colleges that the Princeton Review has named “Best in the Southeast” for 2020 in recognition of excellence in academics and student feedback on the University’s on-campus experience.
Fewer than a quarter of the nation’s colleges qualified for the educational services company’s regional listings.
“We pair academic excellence with intentional Christ conviction; together they create an educational experience that is distinctly Carson-Newman,” said University President Charles A. Fowler. “That combination uniquely positions Carson-Newman to best serve our students and makes it no surprise that we’re among the top in the region. It’s an honor we’re proud to claim.”
The “Best in the Southeast” category included 12 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
Robert Franek, The Princeton Review's editor-in-chief, noted that the company considered data from its survey of administrators at several hundred colleges in each region, information from staff visits to schools over the years, and the opinions of college counselors and advisors whose perspectives the company solicits.
“We also consider what students enrolled at the schools reported to us on our student survey about their campus experiences,” Franek said.
