Help support the Washam family

Seth and Emma Washam

Make a gift to the Washam family

(July 20, 2019) JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman University incoming freshman Seth Washam died Friday in an accident while on a trip to Guatemala. Washam was killed due to an electrical short in a hotel swimming pool. His sister Emma, a rising C-N junior, was also injured in the incident. The two are the children of C-N alumni Shannon and Jean-Ann Washam of Knoxville. Jean-Ann serves as executive director of the University’s Appalachian Outreach home repair ministry.

“The prayers of our entire campus community is that God will be a refuge and an ever present help to the Washam family at this time,” said Carson-Newman President Charles A. Fowler. “For Shannon, Jean-Ann and Emma, we pray for God’s comfort and a peace that surpasses all understanding.”

The University has established a giving page where all money given will go to assist the Washam family. Donations can be given at: cn.edu/washam
