category: Campus News Hawkins named to Deans for Impact cohort category: Campus News | May 16, 2019 Dr. Kim Hawkins (May 16, 2019) JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn – Carson-Newman University’s Dr. Kim Hawkins has been named a 2019 Impact Academy Fellow by Deans for Impact. Hawkins, who serves as chair of Carson-Newman’s Education and Counseling Department is a member of the organization’s fourth cohort, which is composed of 19 fellows from 12 states. Over the next year, Hawkins will work with Deans for Impact to improve programs and enhance teacher readiness. Hawkins has served as chair of C-N’s Department of Education & Counseling since 2014. She received the University’s Teaching Excellence and Leadership Award that same year. The following year, she received the Excellence in Academic Advising Award. Along with serving as chair, she has been director of C-N’s Reading Specialist program, as well as the University’s Best Buddies chapter. Hawkins earned her Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree from Baylor University. She continued her education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she earned her doctorate.
