Retirement reception planned for Carson-Newman’s Jones and Milligan

Ann Jones and Dr. Thomas Milligan will be honored at a March 16 retirement reception.

(March 6, 2017) – Carson-Newman University’s Music Department will host a retirement reception for Professor Ann Jones and Dr. Thomas Milligan on Thursday, March 16 following the A Cappella Choir home concert.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church with the reception following immediately in the church’s fellowship hall.

“The Music Department is losing two of the very best faculty members ever to serve at Carson-Newman,” said Dr. Clark Measels, Music Department chairperson. “It is truly difficult to express the enormity of the contributions made by Mrs. Ann Jones and Dr. Thomas Milligan. They have done great and long lasting things for the University and made uncountable contributions to the lives of our students. To me personally, they are trusted friends, colleagues, confidants, and advisors. I will miss them.”

Carson-Newman music alumni and friends of the department are invited to attend.

Founded in 1851, Carson-Newman is located in Jefferson City, Tennessee, among the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The University has over 2,600 students and offers 50 undergraduate majors, as well as associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees.
