category: Campus News Mortar Board honor society holds “Geek Week” category: Campus News | February 17, 2017 (Feb. 17, 2017) –Carson-Newman University’s Mortar Board honor society will hold its first Geek Week on campus the week of Feb. 20. Geek Week kicks-off Tuesday, Feb. 21 with “Meet The Geeks” from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Maddox Student Activities Center. Several honor societies will be on hand to answer questions, socialize and promote their clubs. Geek Week activities continue on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. in the small cafeteria of Stokely Memorial Cafeteria with Trivia Night. The theme “Are You Smarter Than A CNU Professor?” will match students against Carson-Newman professors in a general knowledge competition. In addition, Mortar Board is hosting a supply drive for local schools. Collection boxes will be set up throughout the week in Stephens-Burnett Memorial Library on campus. All Geek Week events are free and open to the public. Mortar Board is a national honor society recognizing college seniors for their achievements in scholarship, leadership and service. Founded in 1851, Carson-Newman is located in Jefferson City, Tennessee, among the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The University has over 2,600 students and offers 50 undergraduate majors, as well as associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees.
