category: Campus News Carson-Newman music students shine at NATS event category: Campus News | April 11, 2016 Pictured left to right are: Andrew Campbell, Ann Jones, Emory Quince and Frederick Wagoner (April 8, 2016) –Carson-Newman University music students made a strong showing at the Mid-South Regional Student Auditions. The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) event was hosted at the University of Tennessee Haslam School of Music, April 1-2. Over 320 vocalists from Kentucky and Tennessee participated, with their voice teachers serving as judges for the event. Carson-Newman Music Department students Andrew Campbell, Emory Quince and Fred Wagoner each advanced to final rounds and earned first place finishes. Others students who reached semi-final rounds of the auditions included: Ben Archer, Hannah McGinnis, Rachael Hopkins, John Huskey, Kaylee Kesterson, Matt Huckaba. Judges representing the University Music Department included Caitlin Bolten, Ann Jones and Dr. Clark Measels. Carson-Newman’s Dr. Angela Holder, who also serves as the Mid-South NATS Regional Governor for Kentucky and Tennessee, presided over the weekend event.
