President O’Brien to be recognized by Tennessee House of Representatives

(March 23, 2016) – Carson-Newman University President J. Randall O’Brien will serve as “Chaplain of the Day of the Tennessee House of Representatives” on Wednesday, March 30 in Nashville.

Before being recognized by the House, O’Brien will lead a devotional time with House officials. Members of the Carson-Newman student body will also be in attendance and have the opportunity to meet and visit with state legislators.

“It is an honor to serve as Chaplain of the Day for the Tennessee House of Representatives,” said O’Brien. “To have the opportunity to share Carson-Newman’s vision with our elected officials and to represent the University at our state’s capitol is truly special.

Founded in 1851, Carson-Newman is located in Jefferson City, Tennessee, among the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The University has over 2,500 students and offers 50 undergraduate majors, as well as associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees.
