Public invited to Carson-Newman University MLK chapel, Jan. 19

(Jan. 13, 2016) –Carson-Newman University will host the Rev. Lorenzo “Lo” McCutcheon and his wife Petrina on Tuesday, January 19 for its Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. chapel service. The public is invited to the 9:30 a.m. service held at Jefferson City’s First Baptist Church.

Lorenzo has served as youth pastor at Peaceful Believer’s Church in Fort Meade, Florida, since 2002. Feeling led to positively impact the lives of youth in Fort Meade, he was ordained into the ministry at age 30. He continued his education earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in theological studies from Minnesota Theological Institute.

Along with teaching and training curriculum for youth, his ministry includes organizing the church’s summer youth camp and serving in the community. He is also founder of Boyz to Men (B2M) male mentoring group.

Petrina, who will serve as soloist during the chapel service, serves alongside her husband. She is founder of Bold optimistic Strong sistas (BoSs), a mentoring group for girls from 5th grade to 11th grade.

Founded in 1851, Carson-Newman is located in Jefferson City, Tennessee, among the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The University has over 2,500 students and offers 50 undergraduate majors, as well as associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees. The institution’s website is cn.edu.
