University announces annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Dec. 1

(Nov. 19, 2015)—Carson-Newman University will bring in the Christmas season with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Tuesday, Dec. 1. Guests will have two opportunities to attend this year, with lightings at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

It’s a really nice way to get the miracle of Christmas freshly placed in our minds,” says Chair of the Department of Music Clark Measels. “In addition, you get to hear some nice music in a calm, relaxing setting before it becomes a hustle and bustle season.”

Guests will enjoy a series of scripture readings, punctuated by candlelight processions and a number of musical performances by different ensembles.

In past years the Christmas Tree Lighting has drawn large crowds, so the University split it up in hopes that everyone who wishes to come will have a space.

The lightings will be located in Tarr Music Center’s lobby, and are free and open to the public. Seating is limited.

Tickets are required, but are complimentary. Guests may request tickets by calling Julie Wright at 865-471-3328.

Tarr Music Center is located along Russell Avenue on Carson-Newman’s campus. Measels suggests using the back entrance, as the tree and choir will be stationed in the front of the building.
