(Sept. 9, 2015) –Carson-Newman University is named No. 1 in the South for best undergraduate teaching according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 Best Colleges Guide released today.

Carson-Newman is also named to the Top 10 in the “Best Value Schools” category.

“The rankings for Best Undergraduate Teaching focus on schools whose faculty and administrators are committed to teaching undergraduate students in a high-quality manner,” cites the publication on its website. According to U.S. News & World Report, the methodology is based on peer assessment surveys taken by college presidents, provosts, and admissions deans.

I never cease to be amazed by the quality and dedication of our faculty,” said Dr. Paul Percy, the University’s provost. “They thrive at being not only great teachers, but also outstanding mentors beyond the classroom. The bond they build with our students often continues long after graduation.”

The University was also ranked No. 12 in the South as a “Best College for Veterans.”

The rankings come on the heels of the University’s announcement of posting a record-breaking enrollment of 2,528 students. It is the second consecutive year the University has experienced a high-water mark in enrollment.

Last month Carson-Newman was named the No. 9 baccalaureate college in the nation by Washington Monthly magazine.
