(Jan. 28, 2015) – Carson-Newman University will host its 2nd annual Appalachian Summit on Service-Learning Pedagogy & Practice on Feb. 7. The event is sponsored by the University’s Bonner Center for Service Learning & Civic Engagement.

The event will focus on creating tangible outcomes to assist faculty in integrating service learning into the classroom. It will also seek to initiate greater civic dialogue. The goal for a regional focus is to broaden civic development and resilience in Appalachia.

Faculty and staff from surrounding Appalachian colleges and universities are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Modeled off the High Impact Initiative of the Bonner Foundation in Princeton, New Jersey, participation in the conference encourages each campus to bring a team of faculty, community partners, staff, and student leaders. Individuals are also welcome.

Registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 30. Cost for attendance is $25 for individuals and $120 for teams of five participants. Payment should be received by Feb. 2.
