Carson-Newman, KCS to present fall concert at Knoxville’s historic Tennessee Theatre, Nov. 16

(Nov. 3, 2014) –The combined choirs of Carson-Newman University and the Knoxville Choral Society will present a Fall Choral Concert at the historic Tennessee Theatre, downtown Knoxville on Sunday, Nov. 16. The 7 p.m. event is free and open to the public.

More than 200 singers, accompanied by an orchestra will present “Music by Dan Forrest,” including his “Requiem for the Living.” Forrest, who has been called “an up and comer,” has had his work touted as ranking among the best choral music in churches today. The public is also invited to a composer and conductor chat at 6:15 p.m. prior to the performance. The concert is sponsored by the University’s Ball Institute for Church Music.

A pre-event conference featuring Forrest will he held Nov. 14–15 on Carson-Newman’s campus for those involved in church music. Sessions will focus on the creative process of Forrest’s compositions. The pre-event conference is $20.
