category: Campus News University hosts summer culture program for Taiwanese students category: Campus News | July 8, 2014 (July 8, 2014)– Dee Matchett, pictured above, leads a Carson-Newman University class on East Tennessee culture. Matchett, a graduate student of Teaching English as a Second Language, is helping with the University’s summer American culture program for Taiwanese students this month. The twelve high school and college-age students from Taiwan are on campus to learn English and explore American culture. Program events include experiencing traditional Christmas festivities at the home of Carson-Newman President Randall and Kay O’Brien, visiting Pigeon Forge’s Dixie Stampede, and taking part in a Fourth of July celebration in Knoxville.
