(April 25, 2014)– Carson-Newman University’s Jazz Ensemble will move its annual “Jazz on the Lawn” concert Monday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m. to Thomas Recital Hall, part of Tarr Music Center. The event is free.

The public is invited to enjoy the sounds of big band jazz featuring music from the 1940s to today.

“It is an end of the year celebration of spring time,” said ensemble director Pat Bivens. “The annual event is open to campus and community.”

The program features several solos. A sampling includes James Van Heusen’s “Come Fly with Me,” featuring a vocal solo by senior John Kimbrough, and Jeff Jarvis’s “Critical Mass,” which will highlight senior guitarist Kaylyn Guthrie and freshman alto sax Jared Reed.

The event will also be streamed live online at: cn.edu/live
