Carson-Newman University’s Dr. Patsy Boyce works with students in a mammalian physiology class. U.S. News & World Report named Carson-Newman a Best Regional College in the South in its 2014 rankings.

Carson-Newman University is ranked No. 12 among the South’s Best Regional Colleges, according to the U.S. News & World Report for the second consecutive year. The University is one of only two Tennessee schools to make it into the top 20 in the 2014 rankings.

U.S. News & World Report defines the regional college ranking as colleges that “focus on undergraduate education but grant fewer than half their degrees in liberal arts disciplines.”

“Carson-Newman is a place of quality education, passionate instruction, and transformational experiences,” said Carson-Newman President Randall O’Brien. “We feel honored that U.S News & World Report recognizes this.”

Earlier this month, The Princeton Review named Carson-Newman University a “Best in the Southeast” for 2014, and Washington Monthly ranked the University 10th among America’s baccalaureate colleges.

U.S. News & World Report’s 12-state South region consists of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
