Student film is the subject of this month’s “Tennessee Filmmaker,” the hour-long PBS program hosted by Carson-Newman alumnus and Tennessee filmmaker Keith McDaniel.

The monthly program features interviews with area filmmakers, and this segment’s focus is student filmmakers.

Subjects hail from Carson-Newman and the University of Tennessee as well as one high school senior.

Viewers can learn about the students’ filmmaking processes and experiences as well as catch some of the students’ films.

C-N student Keith Baker, recent C-N alumnus Ben Gibson, UT student Andrew Swisher, and high school homeschooler Maranda Vandergriff shared their film stories with McDaniel.

The segment, filmed on location at C-N, also features an interview with C-N communications professor Dr. Mark Borchert, who discussed Carson-Newman’s film program.

The show, which ran Feb. 10 on East Tennessee’s PBS affiliate, will soon be available on the “Tennessee Filmmaker” Vimeo channel at http://vimeo.com/channels/tennesseefilmmaker
