Friday is C-N Night at Tennessee Smokies

Pitching Success – C-N President Randall O’Brien throws out the first pitch during a 2010 C-N Night at the Smokies. The game Friday night will help celebrate the beginning of the 2012-13 academic year.

Carson-Newman will celebrate the start of school with a trip to see the Tennessee Smokies Friday night. The first 1000 fans will get a free baseball, courtesy of Carson-Newman, and President Randall O’Brien will make the first pitch as part of pre-game festivities.

“I just hope there’s not a 45-minute game delay because of the slow speed of that pitch,” joked O’Brien, who will make the toss at 7 p.m.

C-N officials hope the event will draw area C-N alumni and Eagles fans, as well as faculty, staff and students. The game continues a partnership that stretches back to the Smokies’ move to Kodak in 2000.

C-N alumni, faculty, staff and students can purchase tickets at the gate or online until Friday noon at https://smokies.streamlineticketing.com/web/group.asp by using the username “cnceagles” and the password “smokies.” C-N staff will post photos from the event at www.facebook.com/carsonnewmansocialmedia.
