C-N School of Family and Consumer Sciences Hosts Vera Bradley Marketing Head

On Tuesday, January 24, Carson-Newman’s School of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) will host Monica Edwards, vice president for Marketing and Communications for handbag and luggage giant Vera Bradley. In addition to marketing and creative leadership for one of America’s fastest growing accessory companies, Edwards and her team oversee the production of multi-media national campaigns and events.

“Monica leads strategic planning, as well as the look and brand voice for Vera Bradley’s marketing and communication operation,” said Dr. Kitty Coffey, FCS dean. “We are so excited for the opportunity our students have to interact with her and learn from one who has worked in marketing on a national level with three consumer products of special interest to FCS: furnishings, food, and apparel/accessories.”

Prior to joining the handbag and accessories giant, Edwards was vice president of marketing for Drexel Heritage Furniture. Other positions include of director sales and marketing for Carolina Coffee Roasting, as well as both traditional and experiential marketing experience for Prescriptives and Saks Fifth Avenue. She earned a BA in journalism San Diego State University.

She will address students throughout the day, including one session that is free and open to the public. That event will be held at 4:30 p.m. in Blye-Poteat Hall, Room 110. For more information, call 865-471-3295.
