Majors

Our department offers many different majors for students who want to earn a music degree.  E-mail us at music@cn.edu if you have questions about a specific major. 

BM - Church Music

Graduates are prepared for careers as church musicians or further study on the graduate level.

BM - Music Education: Instrumental

 Graduates are prepared to teach instrumental music in public and private schools and to pursue graduate degrees in music. Music Education majors can obtain dual licensure endorsement in both vocal and instrumental areas by taking a few additional courses.

BM - Music Education: Vocal

Graduates are prepared to teach vocal music in public and private schools and to pursue graduate degrees in music. Music Education majors can obtain dual licensure endorsements in both vocal and instrumental areas by taking a few additional courses.

BM - Outside Field

A strong program in music is combined with a minor in another discipline.

BM - Performance (Piano, Vocal, or Instrumental)

Graduates are well grounded in performance skills and related areas and are prepared for graduate study in music.

BM - Theory

Graduates are prepared for graduate study in theory, musicology, or music librarianship.

 BA - Music

Music majors seeking the Bachelor of Arts degree study in order to obtain a diverse liberal arts education and to develop musical skills that enhance their intellectual growth in the knowledge and appreciation of music.
