Why a Food Pantry?

Food insecurities have become an issue on university campuses and have a direct impact on a student's success. Over 48% of students currently face food insecurities, and 81% admitting to this problem harming their academic performance. Hunger can impact sleep, studying, and social engagement.* The Food Pantry provides a variety of food and personal hygiene items for our student.

How can you help?

Donate Food - We could not sustain this resource without the generosity of donors at C-N, our alumni, and the Lakeway community. We will always need donations of non-perishable food items and personal care products. Those who wish to donate to the pantry may drop items off to the Student Success Center, located on the 2nd floor of the library. from 9 a.m. - 4  p.m. Monday through Friday. Feel free to call ahead (865-471-3567) if you would like to schedule a drive-by donation.

Pantry Item Needs:

Donate time and talent - The Food Pantry relies on volunteer support from students, staff, and the community at large. Volunteers are needed both behind-the-scenes and "on the street" for food intake and order processing,  as we provide pick-up and delivery services.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Stock shelves with food and personal items donations
  • Order Processing - sort pick-up and delivery order
  • Host curbside pick-ups
  • On-campus delivery
  • Plan and implement organized food drives
  • Outreach campaigns to promote the Food Pantry to students and community

Donate money - The Food Pantry shops periodically for necessary items. We are also a partner with Second Harvest, which provides maximum purchasing at a minimum cost. Please consider making a financial contribution to support the needs of our students. Gifts can be made online; C-N faculty and staff may commit to THE STORE monthly giving program through the payroll deduction.
