Welcome to the Career Closet!!
Welcome to the Career Closet, a resource for students who may not have the means to purchase career appropriate clothing. The Closet provides a way for students to access FREE business casual and professional attire for career fairs, interviews, presentation, internships, and the workplace. All attire is generously donated by C-N faculty and staff, alumni, churches, and the business community.
How does the Career Closet work?
Students with a current C-N student ID may "shop" for three clothing items (plus accessories) per visit. Students are encouraged to keep the clothing for future career needs or professional development opportunities.
The Career Closet is open Tuesday's from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and Thursday's from 1 - 4 p.m. Students are encouraged to schedule appointments to ensure best practices while in COVID-19. Appointments are made by calling the Student Success Center at 865-471-3567 or emailing at email@example.com .
Why a Career Closet?
Students often attend college without the (sometimes) necessary tools to succeed when it comes to dressing for success. Job fairs, classroom presentations, and interviews are constantly popping up on a students schedule and having professional outfits is key to their success. C-N students now have access to the appropriate attire that they will then keep to begin building their professional wardrobe.
How you can help?
Donate clothing - There will always be a need for clothing to sustain the Career Closet for our students. We invite you to clear your closets and "re-gift" your professional and business casual attire to our students. Those who wish to donate to the closet may drop items off to the Student Success Center, located on the 2nd floor of the library. from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Feel free to call ahead (865-471-3567) if you would like to schedule a drive-by donation.
Career Closet items for men and women:
- sport coats
- dress shirts
- accessories (ties, belts, scarves, jewelry, purses)
Donate time and talent - Volunteers are necessary to maintain business hours, manage clothing donations, merchandise items, and assist students with their shopping needs.
Donate money - The Career Closet shops for items lacking in size, style, and purpose to provide all needed items for our students. Your financial gifts will help dress a student with items that aren't always available through clothing donations. Gifts can be made online; C-N faculty and staff may commit to THE STORE monthly giving program through the payroll deduction.
