Knoxville musician and alumna Mary McDonald to perform Feb. 26 benefit concert

Knoxville musician Mary McDonald will appear at Carson-Newman University on Tuesday, February 26, at 7:30 p.m. in a concert to benefit the scholarship fund of Delta Omicron.
Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity will present the benefit concert, which will be held in C-N’s Thomas Recital Hall.
McDonald is a multi-talented musician and a 1978 C-N alumna. In addition to her work as a composer, arranger, pianist, organist, she was a sacred choral editor for The Lorenz Corporation for more than 20 years and has served as both organist and pianist for a local Baptist church.
“She is one of our most prestigious music alumni as a composer and arranger of church music,” said Ann Jones, C-N professor of music.
McDonald is a well-known composer of more than 700 choral anthems, many seasonal cantatas, and keyboard collections.
McDonald and her husband, Brian, a Knoxville architect, have been married for 34 years and have two married children and two grandchildren.
