TN Department of Health offers 1st COVID-19 vaccinations before semester end

Campus News | April 20, 2021

(April 20, 2021) — The Tennessee Department of Health encourages Carson-Newman University students, faculty and staff to schedule an appointment for their first COVID-19 vaccination before the end of the spring semester.

Students who are fully vaccinated will not be required to quarantine if exposed, according to the TDH. Students are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccinations or 28 days after a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccination.

The Jefferson County and Hamblen County health departments are offering Pfizer vaccinations at no cost by appointment at these drive-thru locations. Interested individuals may also stop by either department at 2:30 p.m. any weekday to see if there are doses remaining from those who did not appear for their appointments.

Students who live in other areas would then receive their second dose at the nearest health department to their home residences.

International students should contact Carson-Newman Health Services at 865-471-3350 before scheduling a vaccination appointment.

Those interested in getting a COVID-19 vaccination may visit vaccinefinder.org to schedule an appointment for the location and vaccination of choice.
