Young named as University’s director of Campus Ministries
Carson-Newman University has announced Jeremiah Young as its new director of Campus Ministries, effective March 15. He is married to Kristen Young and has two daughters, Evie, 3, and Kamdyn, 7.
(March 2, 2021) JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — Carson-Newman University has announced Jeremiah Young as its new director of Campus Ministries. Young comes to C-N from Manley Baptist Church in Morristown, where he served as student pastor for eight years.
Carson-Newman President Charles A. Fowler said that Young will join the University effective March 15.
“Jeremiah Young has a passion to see students changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ,” Fowler said. “He demonstrates a commitment to discipling followers of Christ to use their God-given gifts to transform the world. Such a ministry is a perfect fit for Carson-Newman where, as Christian educators, we help our students reach their full potential to become worldwide servant-leaders.”
Young previously served as youth minister at First Baptist Church in Ozark, Arkansas. He holds a Master of Arts in pastoral ministry from Caskey School of Divinity at Louisiana College and a Bachelor of Science degree in youth ministry from Toccoa Falls College.
The incoming campus minister said he is passionate about expository Bible teaching and helping students become disciples who make disciples.
“It’s an absolute privilege to take on this role,” Young said. “I love seeing students enter into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ, discipling students in their walk, and sending them to the nations to spread the Gospel. What a blessing it will be to minister to Carson-Newman’s students in this manner.”
He refers to his family as his most important ministry. He is married to Kristen Young, and they are the parents of daughters Kamdyn and Evie.
Gloria Walker, Carson-Newman’s vice president for Student Services, expressed gratitude to have Young join her staff in this vital role for Campus Ministries.
“Jeremiah has a heart for student ministry, discipleship and spreading the Gospel,” Walker said. “We are looking forward to walking alongside him as he ministers to our students and the campus community.”
