RN program ranks among top in state
(March 9, 2020) JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — Carson-Newman University’s nursing program receives top marks against other colleges and universities in the state, according to RegisteredNursing.org, a nursing advocacy organization.
Carson-Newman’s registered nursing program ranked ninth out of 44 programs in the organization’s 2020 Best RN Programs.
“Our graduates are eagerly sought out by employers because Carson-Newman nursing faculty are committed to preparing RNs to excel in their practice,” Provost Jeremy Buckner said. “In addition, as Christian educators, our nursing faculty focuses on the holistic development of our students such that not only are these nurses superior in nursing skill but also known for being compassionate caregivers and passionate patient advocates. We are pleased to see our nursing faculty recognized for preparing these exceptional graduates.”
RegisteredNursing.org analyzed programs based on how well the program supports students in achieving licensure and beyond, with particular weight to first time NCLEX-RN pass rates.
“With small clinical groups, experienced faculty and five semesters of clinical nursing courses, Carson-Newman offers a program that prepares graduates for caregiving in today’s world,” said Dr. Angie Wood, chair of the Nursing Department. “The curriculum focuses on caring for the whole person, with a variety of challenging classes and clinical experiences.”
