Presidential Search Update — Feb. 2019

Campus News | February 22, 2019

The Presidential Search Committee chair and other committee members held multiple meetings with stakeholders (faculty, staff, pastors, churches and C-N Trustees) during the fall of 2019 regarding the search.

  • The Committee announced the completion of its fifth meeting. Over 100 nominations or applications have been received for the position and are being carefully reviewed. Nominations continue to be received and are being processed.  The Committee is excited about the quality and depth of our applicant pool.

  • The Committee is pleased with the progression of our search and is committed to the due diligence of vetting our candidates so that we may find the best candidate to become Carson Newman’s 23rd President. We have utilized secure technology in our process so that our review process can be ongoing.  The University's Presidential Search webpage is proving to be an excellent place to send comments, make a nomination, or learn more about the search and we encourage our stakeholders to utilize this tool.

  • The Committee reports that as the field of candidates narrow, interviews will be conducted in April and May. The intent is to present a nominee for the presidency to the Board of Trustees in the summer. The Committee's goal is to name the 23rd president of Carson-Newman prior to fall semester, 2019. Presidential searches are dynamic in nature and don’t often adhere to a set schedule.  The Committee is committed to do its work in an expeditious, yet comprehensive manner.
