Carson-Newman announces second highest enrollment in its history

(Sept. 19, 2018) JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman University has recorded its second highest enrollment in its 167-year history. The University announced a total fall semester headcount of 2,560 students.

In the last seven years, Carson-Newman has seen a 30 percent increase in its total enrollment. The University welcomed 590 new students.

Carson-Newman's graduate program marked its third highest enrollment with 786 students taking advantage of the school's graduate offerings. It marks a 145 percent enrollment increase over the last seven years.

"We are excited to welcome our newest class to campus," said Dr. Paul Percy, executive vice president and provost. "We are pleased so many are looking to Carson-Newman to earn their degrees. We look forward to another great year."

In recent months the school has earned several recognitions including being named No. 4 in Tennessee for its online programs by OnlineDegrees.com; No. 8 in the ranking of best four-year colleges in Tennessee by Schools.com; and No. 38 among the top 50 best Christian colleges in the nation by College Atlas. The University was also again named a "College of Distinction" and "Christian College of Distinction" by the organization Colleges of Distinction.

Founded in 1851, Carson-Newman is a Christian liberal arts university located in Jefferson City, Tennessee, among the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The University has over 2,500 students and offers 50 undergraduate majors, as well as associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees.
