Students to hold mock presidential debate, Sept. 19
(Sept. 13, 2016) – Carson-Newman University will hold a mock presidential debate on Monday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. Co-sponsored by the University's Pre-Law Society and Forensics Team, the event will be held in Gentry Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.
Students will represent presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
"I'm very proud of our students for wanting to host this type of forum and for all of the work they have put into planning and preparing for it," said Dr. Kara Stooksbury, advisor of the Pre-Law Society. "The focus of the debate will be on the issues facing the country. The majority of our students will be voting for the first time this election year. We want to do everything we can to help them make an educated decision."
Following the event, the C-N Democrats, C-N Republicans, and the University's Forensics Team and Pre-Law Society will have tables set up outside Gentry to provide more info to interested people. This will conclude the Pre-Law Society's weeklong annual voter registration drive--people can register at the table after the debate.
The event is free and open to the public. Gentry Auditorium is located in Henderson Humanities Building.
