• My time at Carson-Newman shaped my life. It gave me a community in which I was able to question, shape, and strengthen my faith. Without my time at Carson-Newman, the professors who molded me, and the community that grew me, I would never be as confident in my walk with Christ and my knowledge of the Christian faith as I am today.

Campus News | September 07, 2016

(Sept. 7, 2016) — Carson-Newman University will host its Ball Alumni Recital Thursday, September 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Thomas Recital Hall.

This year's recital features performances by 2010 graduate Carrie Tedder Koehler on horn and Brandon Coffer, of the class of 2013, on piano.

"It is an honor to have the musical artistry of these two young alumni coming back to Carson-Newman to perform," said Dr. Angela Holder, associate professor of music. "Both graduates have continued to pursue their instruments and are known for their sensitivity and excellence in artistry."

The one-hour program will feature compositions by Gershwin, Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart and others.

The late Mary Charlotte Ball, who served on the University's music faculty, established the Ball Alumni Recital in honor of her husband, Dr. Louis Ball. A longtime professor and administrator, Dr. Ball was a visionary in the Tarr Music Center’s development.

The concert is free and open to the public. Thomas Recital Hall is located in the Tarr Music Center along Russell Avenue on Carson-Newman’s campus.
