James "Jayme" W. Taylor, II, D.M.A.

Associate Professor of Music - Education & Instrumental

Dr. Jayme Taylor is Assistant Professor of Music Education and Assistant Director of Bands at Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee. In his role as Assistant Director of Bands at Carson-Newman, he conducts the C-N Wind Ensemble, Lyric Theater pit orchestra, basketball pep bands, and assists with the direction of the Marching Eagles. Additionally, he is the high brass studio professor, teaches courses in the music education curriculum, and supervises student teachers.

Dr. Taylor is an active clinician and adjudicator of both concert and marching ensembles having served in this capacity from Missouri to South Carolina. As a public school teacher in East Tennessee, he taught several years at Clinton High and Middle Schools and in the Clinton City School system as band director. He also has extensive experience as an instructor and member with several drum and bugle corps including the Bluecoats of Canton, OH, Cavaliers of Rosemont, IL, and Troopers of Casper, WY. Dr. Taylor lives in Knoxville, TN with his wife Missy and their son Avery.
