If you value careful reasoning and enjoy thinking critically about your beliefs, a philosophy major may be the perfect choice for you. The C-N philosophy program emphasizes the open-minded and careful examination of opposing views on perennial topics of philosophy, including God, free will and morality. You’ll be challenged to explore questions, assess claims and arguments, and propose unique solutions to difficult problems.
The philosophy curriculum covers contemporary debates as well as historically oriented courses from the perspectives of major thinkers in the history of philosophy. Since philosophy complements many other disciplines and prepares you to excel in a wide range of careers, the program’s flexible scheduling allows you to graduate with two majors.
Philosophy majors in America, on average, outperform most all other majors on admittance exams for graduate/professional schools such as the LSAT, GRE and GMAT.
Carson-Newman’s program is unique as it provides first hand experience at the undergraduate level working with varsity athletic teams in technique analysis, data collection and performance support.
