Nicole Drewitz-Crockett, Ph.D.

Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies (Knoxville Education Center) & Associate Professor of English

Originally from Kentucky, Nicole Drewitz-Crockett has lived in East Tennessee for most of her adult life. She is a 2000 graduate of Carson-Newman University where she majored in English; she earned both the M.A. and Ph.D. in English at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Nicole returned to CNU as a member of the English Department from 2008 – 2012. She then spent ten years at Emory & Henry College in southwest Virginia as the director of the school’s annual Literary Festival and the editor of The Iron Mountain Review. “D-C,” as she is often known to students and colleagues, also served as the Division Chair for the Humanities at E&H and taught courses in American literature, Appalachian literature, and film. D-C returned to CNU in the summer of 2022 as an Associate Dean in the College of Professional Studies; she oversees the university’s Knoxville Education Center on Middlebrook Pike. D-C also serves as an Associate Professor in the English Department and the Director of New Initiatives for the Appalachian Cultural Center.
