Keith McClelland

Adjunct Instructor of Music - Bassoon

Mr. McClelland currently serves as Professor of Music at the University of Tennessee where he teaches applied bassoon, oboe, woodwind methods, and theory. He also serves as adjunct instructor of applied bassoon at Carson-Newman University.

Mr. McClelland is an active teacher and performer. His professional creative activities include solo, chamber music, and orchestral performing. He has served as Bassoonist for the United States Military Academy Band, West Point and as principal bassoonist for Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, a position he currently holds. He has appeared as soloist with the Knoxville Symphony eight times during his 30+ years tenure with that organization. Noteworthy performances include: Tennessee Bassoon Quartet and Lyric Chamberwinds at meetings of the International Double Reed Society Conference. In 2003, he performed the world premiere of Two Inventions for trumpet and bassoon by Robert Cronin. He played a pivotal role in revitalizing the Smoky Mountain Chamber Players in 1990.

Mr. McClelland continues to give regular recitals and teaches during his summers with the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts.
