People Jean Love Jean Love Associate Professor of Physical Education & Exercise Science Dr. Jean Love is our steady force in the department. With the many changes as the department has undergone in the last few years, it is nice to have someone who has been here a while. Dr. Love started in 1988 and we are so blessed she has stayed! A native of Jefferson City, she graduated from Jefferson County High and knew that Carson-Newman was for her. After graduating from C-N in 1983 with a B.S. in Physical Education and Health, she went to Vanderbilt and earned a Master of Education in Physical Education. Immediately following her stay at Vanderbilt, she worked at C-N as the Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach. From 1987 to 1988 she worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Louisiana State University and Temple University in their Activity Courses and came home summers to C-N to work as the Tennis Camp Director from 1986 to 1989. Deciding that she really liked sports and physical education, she completed an Education Doctorate at the University of Tennessee in Human Performance and Sports Studies in 1991. This just goes to prove how dedicated she is to her job and her students. She started working at C-N in 1988 as the Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach as well as teaching up and coming physical education professionals and earned a Doctorate! Just ask any of her students and they will tell you how blessed we are to have Dr. Love as part of the department!
