Div., Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1980) Ph.D., Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1985) Dr. Crutchley came to Carson-Newman in 2004 having taught previously at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Cape Town Baptist Theological Seminary, South Africa. He serves as Dean of the School of Biblical and Theological Studies at Carson Newman and teaches upper-level New Testament electives. Dr. Crutchley grew up in southern Africa and leads the annual summer trip to Cape Town, South Africa teaching a course, “Being Fully Human: A Spirituality Out of Africa.” He also leads spring break trips to Israel and recently Italy with students and SBTS faculty. Dr. Crutchley loves the classroom and the local church where he often serves as an interim, teaches, and preaches. His wife Carol grew up as a ‘missionary kid’ in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and they have two sons and a daughter. Dr. Crutchley received the C-N Distinguished Faculty Award in 2016 and the R. R.
