She also advises the Carson-Newman Interior Design Society and the National Kitchen and Bath Association’s (NKBA) student organization. Her research interests include the effect of the built-environment as it relates to the health, safety, and well-being of its occupants, adaptation of existing spaces, and lighting design. Dr. Dutro is a registered Interior Designer in the state of Tennessee, LEED GA, and a member of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS), the Interior Design Society, the National Kitchen and Bath Association, and Phi Kappa Phi. Her personal interests include fiber arts, weaving, gardening, and music.
