« Back to Newsroom

Sarah Beth Maddox, a Carson-Newman senior and Student Government Association president, speaks to the campus community during the University's Fall Convocation last month. The University has been cited as "A Great School at a Great Price" by U.S. News & World Report's 2017 Best Colleges Guide.

(Sept. 13, 2016) – Carson-Newman University once again is named a "Great School at a Great Price" in U.S. News & World Report's 2017 Best Colleges Guide released today. Carson-Newman ranks in the category's Top 15 Regional Universities, South.

"Carson-Newman was founded to serve those throughout the Appalachian region," said Dr. Paul Percy, the University's acting president and provost. "Since then, we have long expanded, welcoming students from around the world. We have done that by providing an excellent Christian higher education, while also working diligently to make that same educational experience as affordable as possible."

Carson-Newman is also ranked No. 59 in the category of "Best Regional Universities, South," a category elevated from previous years when Carson-Newman was ranked in the "Best Regional Colleges, South" category.

The University was also listed as a "Best University for Veterans." To be considered for the designation, a school must be in the top half of its Best Colleges ranking category, be certified for the GI Bill and a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program or be a public school that charges in-state tuition to all out-of-state veterans.

The news comes on the heels of the University announcing its third year of an historic enrollment high. Carson-Newman was also named this summer as a national "College of Distinction" and a "Christian College of Distinction" by the organization Colleges of Distinction.
