Carson-Newman University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor – New Testament (tenure track), to teach undergraduate courses within the School of Biblical and Theological Studies, as well as teach other courses, conduct research and engage in other service in the field of religious studies as assigned. The position includes working with the Vice President of Church Relations as an Associate Director of Campus Ministries to administer all aspects of Campus Ministries for graduate and non-traditional students, supervise students, programs and activities in furtherance of our mission and serve as Pastor to shepherd worship, ministry, mission opportunities, etc. and occasional travel for pulpit supply and preaching opportunities. The position begins in the fall of 2023. Candidates for the position of Assistant Professor and Associate Director of Campus Ministries should possess the following:’ * Academic credentials (Ph.D.) in the field of New Testament or closely related ministry field from an accredited seminary or university. * Experience teaching in the field of religious studies and ministering in a higher education setting. * Ability to teach, advise and minister online to traditional and non-traditional students. * Ability to further develop the cultural diversity of our ministry and educational curriculum * Evidence of a strong pastoral calling to young adults in a non-traditional setting and demonstrated ability in pastoral counseling (including fiscal management). * A shared conviction of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 demonstrated by candidate’s statement of Christian Faith and a willingness to affiliate with a Baptist church upon hire. * An ability to articulate a vision that involves the entire university campus in Campus Ministries. * Share the Gospel as a lifestyle and have a desire to inspire and lead our campus community to grow in Gospel faithfulness. * Willing to affirm and support the Five Pillars of Purpose as the guiding framework for leadership at Carson-Newman University. * Strong administrative, interpersonal and communication skills. * Ability to develop and inspire leadership abilities in others. * Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook and Office, Datatel, Informer, Excel, Publisher, C-N Website, ProPresenter Software) and operating knowledge of basic media equipment.
