Job Title: Assistant Professor of English, Creative Writing – Fiction Department: English Reports To: Dean, School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Location: On-site FLSA Status: Exempt Time Requirements: 9 month Supervisory Responsibilities: No Summary Description: The Assistant Professor of English, Creative Writing—Fiction will teach courses in the Creative Writing emphasis and General Education composition and literature courses at the undergraduate level. The position is a full-time, tenure-track, 9-month appointment. Essential Functions: As an intentionally Christian academic community, Christian employees are hired to advance the mission of Carson-Newman as expressed in our strategic plan, Acorns to Oaks. Teaches courses in the Creative Writing emphasis and General Education composition and literature courses at the undergraduate level. Will play an active role in advising English majors, participating in campus life, guiding student publications, and recruiting potential students. Education: Must have a Ph.D. in English or Creative Writing with a strong record of publication.
