Jeff Knox, Ph.D.
Dr. Knox joined the department as Chair in August, 2015 and has helped develop two new programs and update three existing degrees. He has also helped develop service learning partnerships with area schools, athletic teams, and civic organizations. When not advising students or developing plans to grow the department, Dr. Knox can be found teaching physical education methods and coaching theory classes.
Dr. Knox is a Jefferson County native and graduated Carson-Newman with a BS in Physical Education and continued his education here earning a Masters of Education. He has also attended the University of Tennessee receiving elementary education and PreK-12 administrator licenses along with a Doctorate in Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
Dr. Knox volunteers for his church as he serves on the parish council and is the secretary for the board of directors for St. John Neumann Catholic School. He also volunteers as the Adapted Physical Education Chair for TAHPERD. Additionally, Dr. Knox serves on several committees for Tennessee’s Department of Education helping develop the standards and evaluation systems for physical educators.
When not at Carson-Newman, Dr. Knox can be found enjoying watersports with his wife, Lindsay and two sons Ace and Colt. He also enjoys working out and taking on new hobbies (this year it is sewing and learning piano).
