Leadership Camp

Welcome to our Marching Band Leadership Camp! Tailored for band members eager to enhance their leadership skills, this workshop is ideal for section leaders, band officers, and any band or guard member aiming to lead. Participants will delve into a comprehensive curriculum covering key aspects of leadership:

  • Roles and expectations of student leaders
  • Enhancing musicianship and communication with band directors
  • Personal strength development
  • Fundamentals of teaching in the band room and on the field
  • Goal-setting
  • Traits of being prepared, dependable and responsible
  • Boosting self-esteem and confidence
  • Acquiring motivational and people-management skills
  • The power of a positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Foundational values of integrity and honesty in leadership

Our interactive classroom setting includes role-playing, skits, and group discussions, allowing students to exchange ideas and learn from the experiences of their peers and other successful programs. Join us to gain insights and tools to become an effective student leader in your band community!

Overnight Participant Fee

Regular Fee: $350 (starting April 1st)
Includes 3 nights lodging, meals, and instruction

Daily Participant Fee

Regular Fee: $250 (starting April 1st)
Includes instruction and 3 meals a day

Instructors

Ashby Goldstein — Carson-Newman University Director of Music Education & Bands

Alex White — John Sevier Middle School Band Director; former University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland Drum Major

Overnight Campers — Stay in Carson-Newman’s dormitories under the supervision of trained counselors.

Dining — Enjoy delicious meals in our dining facilities.

Commuter Option — Local students can choose to attend camp during the day and return home in the evenings.

Overnight Campers: $350(includes tuition, housing, and meals)

Commuter Campers: $250 (includes tuition and lunch/dinner)

Early Registration Deadline: March 31st, 2025 (Register Early and receive a $50 discount)
