Carson-Newman University is continuing to grow its international reach through a new partnership with a University in China.

President Lu Yang with the University of Science and Technology Liaoning in Anshan, Liaoning Province, China recently visited Carson-Newman University to discuss plans for a partnership between the two universities.

Carson-Newman President Randall O’Brien expressed excitement at the prospect of some 120 faculty from China visiting Carson-Newman to receive training on educational methodology and improvement of their English language skills. O’Brien hopes that the partnership will also develop a student exchange program, short-term programs and faculty exchange.

The University of Science and Technology Liaoning is located in Northeast China and expanded in 2002 from a primarily technical/engineering school to a more diverse institution offering degrees in many areas.

Carson-Newman University is a private, Christian liberal arts university. Founded in 1851, Carson-Newman is located in Jefferson City, Tennessee, among the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The University has approximately 2,000 students and offers 50 undergraduate majors and nine graduate degrees.
