We want you to feel at home while living in the residence hall so feel free to decorate your room! We simply ask that you follow the guidelines set out below:

I want to hang a poster on my wall and curtains above the window.

Drillings holes in the wall of a residence hall room is prohibited. Instead, we recommend using 3M Command Strips or a similar product. Posters, pictures, and other decorative objects may be attached to interior surfaces of the rooms with the understanding that the resident will be held financially responsible for any resulting damages.

I'd prefer to bring my own desk chair, mattress, and other furniture.

All furniture assigned to a room upon check-in must remain in the room and cannot be stored in any other location. Due to the national increase of bed bugs, Carson-Newman University does not allow students to bring in used furniture or mattresses. Before purchasing additional furniture, consult with your roommmate.
