Meet your RAs
Carson-Newman's Resident Assistants are selected from a competitive pool of applicants through a rigorous application and interview process. They are chosen based on factors ranging from personal initiative and responsibility to appreciation for fun and organization. RAs are held to high academic and professional standards, reflecting the university's dedication to excellence in its employees and students.
Training for RAs includes an extensive two-week seminar prior to each fall semester and subsequent monthly professional development sessions to provide a continued education to Residence Life staff. Additionally, each residence hall's staff is required to attend weekly staff-wide meetings and biweekly one-on-one meetings with their professional supervisor. These extensive requirements of RAs are in place to ensure that each Carson-Newman student experiences an optimally safe environment conducive to living, learning, and fostering a community in his or her residence hall.
