Special Needs Ministry
FEBRUARY 28 - MARCH 6
CHARLESTON, SC
This SPOTS mission team will we placed in Charleston, SC primarily serving special needs individuals. Missionaries will also be hosting a random acts of kindness laundry night for the local community, and will be participating in a prayer drive tour of Charleston. This team will also spend one afternoon enjoying Charleston's beautiful beaches.
MINISTRIES
Club Horizons is a day program for young adults with intellectual and physical differences. Previously, this was a location stop for our "Mystery SPOTS Team." This team was so impressed with Club Horizons that we have made this location an entire trip! The facility helps individuals to continue to grow, learn, and serve through projects, activities, chores, field trips, and a host of day-to-day happenings that is personalized for the specific needs of the individual.
Missionaries will be serving in a variety of ways at Club Horizons. Some of these may include craft projects, activities, chores, making "slime", playing kickball, throwing a dance party, taking the group on a local field trip, and potentially helping with rehearsals for an upcoming theater performance.
LAUNDRY MATTERS
This missionary team will spend one evening hosting a "Laundry Matters" night. Laundry Matters is a Charleston based laundry ministry that allows groups to provide a "random acts of laundry night."
The team will provide free laundry to locals, but this is much more than popping quarters into a washer or dryer. Missionaries will have the opportunity to establish a relationship, hear stories, and even pray for individuals in the laundry mat. The team can also provide a "kids station" to color, read, tell a Bible story, testimonies, and spend time with the families.
PRAYER DRIVE TOUR
BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministries) of Charleston is providing a "Prayer Tour" of the area. During this experience missionaries will intercede on behalf of several public universities, the Citadel, hospital, local churches, and lay the foundation and prayer covering for Club Horizons; where our team will be serving throughout the week.
