What's an RA?
Resident Assistants (RAs) at Carson-Newman work in conjuncture with the Residence Life Professional Staff to build and maintain an environment that fosters personal, intellectual, social, and spiritual growth. The role of the RA is to act as a bridge between the university and its students; RAs are expected to implement the policies of the university and help in supporting residents.
The requirements to become an RA include good academic standing (minimum GPA of 2.5) and an interest in both personal and professional development. The selection process includes an online application, an individual interview, and if selected, attendance to the Leadership Carousel Workshop. This extensive process is to ensure that our applicants represent and uphold the values associated with Residence Life. Through this selection and training process, Residence Life works to develop a safe and holistic living environment that promotes the education and growth of Carson-Newman students.
