What are FY-FRIs?
First Year Friday's are designed to encourage first year students to engage with campus and community partners through large scale events on campus. First Year Friday's are a great to way get involved with student organizations and meet new people though shared experiences.
Here are some examples of First Year Friday Events:
Paint with a Purpose: This event brought awareness to childhood cancer by letting students paint for a cure. We had snacks, a photo booth and a balloon dart board for students to participate in. The main station of the event provided information to students about CureSearch, an organization that raises money for childhood cancer research.
Campfire Karaoke: We often host this event before Midterms to give students a fun way to relieve stress in a busy time of the semester. We offered custom s'mores, silly songs, glow sticks and more!
Meet Your Major Fair: This event is designed to help students get to know their professor and department. This event is specifically geared towards first year students who are undeclared and helps them learn more about what majors we have to offer at Carson-Newman.
Fall Festival: As an FYCS tradition, this event is all about FALL! We often offer hay rides, a chili cook off, old fashion hitchin', a cake walk and so much more! This event is a favorite of first year students as upper classmates alike!
