Carson-Newman's 1G Program serves First Generation students and families by providing resources to assist throughout the transition into college, and into the next steps of adult life. A First Generation student is a student whose parents do not have a Bachelor's degree or higher. Often, students who are First Generation have a vague idea of what college is like, but need some extra support to discover the available services provided at a four-year institution.
Through our 1G Program, students and parents can learn about campus resources, engage in events, and connect with First Generation mentors, faculty, and staff to help them reach their full potential.
