Children's and Youth/Service Ministry – March 2-8, 2017
“When are the Carson-Newman people coming back?!?!” This question is from a child who lives at the Chattanooga Children’s Home. While one week is not necessarily a long time it can certainly have a great impact! The children look forward to and count down the days until those “Carson-Newman people” come back. Thus, S.P.O.T.S. will once again partner with the wonderful ministry of the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home located in Chattanooga, TN. Missionaries will connect with and live in cottages of children with very difficult pasts and home lives.
This team will begin their experience with a weekend-long time filled with games, challenges, crafts, and activities with the kids so that they can get to know them. Then, throughout the week they will be participating in service projects at the Children’s Home and each afternoon, when the kids come home from school, they will get to interact with, help with homework, and play games.
Missionaries will conduct after-school activities with children and teens (elementary through high school), develop friendships, tutor, share their faith, and do daily service projects and “odd jobs” to assist house parents and staff. Missionaries may take some of the children/teens on an off-campus “field trip” to participate in local area activities.
The team will be staying in a cottage with a twin size bed. They will serve the staff and children throughout the day/early evening and then have nightly group devotions and reflection time as well as time to hang out and enjoy one another. Please consider joining this wonderful experience and making a difference in a child’s life this spring break!
*This team will return late Thursday evening March 8th
