Transfer Admission Representative


Department: Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Reports To: Director of Transfer and Dual Enrollment.

FLSA Status: Exempt (salaried).

Summary Description: The primary responsibility of the Transfer Admission Representative is to recruit transfer students to Carson-Newman University. Some recruitment responsibility for Dual Enrollment students and work with other student types is an additional component of the position.

Functional Description:

• General Responsibilities:

o Recruit transfer students and dual enrollment students to enroll at C-N and assist them in Admissions and Financial Aid processes.
o Provide service for undergraduate transfer students enrolling at the main campus or pursuing undergraduate transfer classes at the Knoxville location.

• Professional Expectations:

o Recognize that all activities related to recruitment and enrollment of new students and are both professional and personal responsibilities. Industry best practices should be followed. Ethical integrity is an important component in performing this role well.
o Recognize that as an Admissions Representative you are representing the College constantly (both on and off campus). Professional work and mature conduct are expected at all times.

• Specific Responsibilities:

o Respond to new applications for admission and new admission prospects within no more than two business days by a phone call and an e-mail.
o Meet with students, families, and groups exploring Carson-Newman during campus visits.
o Conduct monthly recruitment visits to assigned Community Colleges.
o Work with the Director of Transfer and Dual Enrollment to develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment plan with goals for transfer students and dual enrollment students in your assigned area.
o Create preliminary degree plans using student transcripts to communicate path to degree with prospective students and applicants.
o Maintain a full understanding of extant articulation agreements and transfer equivalencies with key partner community colleges.
o Maintain regular contact with prospects, applicants, and admitted students through multiple communication channels (phone, email, social media, personal notes, etc.).
o Become proficient in the use of appropriate technology.
o Attend transfer fairs and other recruitment events as needed.
o Evaluate applications for admission.
o Assist in planning and implementing campus visit events.
o Work cooperatively with other members of the Enrollment Management Division and other on-campus departments.
o A high standard of performance is expected in all aspects of the position and performance will be evaluated (including but not limited to job performance, attitude, teamwork, customer satisfaction, work ethic, etc).


• Minimum 4 year College Degree required.


• Prior professional experience preferred.
• Former sales, travel and and/or experience in higher education enrollment management is preferred.

• Strong organizational, leadership, customer service, sales, a flexible mindset and willingness to adapt to changing environments, excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time (at college fairs, events, etc).
• Must be able to lift 25lbs (materials at college fairs, etc).
